Match report

The 2017 NRL Finals Week One Qualifying Final between the Sydney Roosters and Brisbane Broncos was played on 8 September 2017 at Allianz Stadium, Sydney. As minor premiers, the Roosters held home-ground advantage and a straightforward path to a week off with victory. Sydney raced to a commanding lead and led 14-6 at half-time, with tries to Aidan Guerra, Boyd Cordner and Luke Keary putting them in control. Brisbane, led by Ben Hunt, James Roberts and a double from winger Corey Oates, mounted a dramatic second-half fightback that briefly gave them the lead. The Roosters steadied and Latrell Mitchell crossed for the match-sealing try in the 75th minute, with Michael Gordon's boot proving decisive over Jordan Kahu's. The 24-22 win sent the Roosters directly into the second week of the finals with a week's rest, while Brisbane were forced into the semi-final elimination round the following week.
