Match report

Penrith raced to a 22-0 lead inside 23 minutes, with Brian To'o, Izack Tago, Jarome Luai and a Luke Garner double punishing a Roosters side that struggled to contain the Panthers' attack in Nathan Cleary's first game back from injury. Cleary added a penalty goal in the 34th minute to push the margin further before halftime, with Penrith leading 24-0 at the break. The Roosters rallied briefly after halftime, with Joseph-Aukuso Sua'ali'i (42') and James Tedesco (46') scoring within minutes of each other to close to 24-10, but Penrith's control of possession shut down any real comeback hope. Luke Garner's second try in the 70th minute sealed a comprehensive 30-10 win, sending Penrith straight into a preliminary final.
